Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an appointment?

No appointment necessary! Stop in whenever we are open. We'll take care of you as quickly as possible, but in general expect to spend about 10-15 minutes going over the instrument/amp and paperwork.

How much will it cost to ___?

Please see our price listings under the guitar and amp repair services section. There you'll find a general list of some of the services we offer with estimated costs. To get an exact quote on price, it's always best to bring the instrument/amp in and go over it with us in person.

How long will it take to ___?

Turnaround times can vary depending on the job. Please call or stop in for an estimate. In many cases, rush orders/ same day service can be provided for a $25 fee.

How often should my instrument be set up?

Most guitars (and other fretted stringed instruments) are made of wood and other materials which respond to humidity and temperature. Each individual instrument reacts differently, and some are more finicky than others. Some guitars can be set up well once and stay playing well for years, while others will require more periodic attention. In general, a thorough setup should last at least a full season, or about 3 months. If you’ve had a setup done here in the last 3 months and feel like it’s not playing right at any point, please bring it back in. If it’s a seasonally related change, we can typically re-adjust it on the spot for no charge. Feel free to call or email for more details.

Do you fix ___?

Our focus is on fretted stringed instruments. We don’t work on computers, cell phones, or general consumer electronics. For other instruments such as violins, pianos, or woodwinds, we would be happy to recommend a specialist near you.

I need ____ done, but I can’t afford the price you quoted.

We try to stay competitively priced with all of our services, but we understand that sometimes your budget is limited. We’re always willing to talk with you about what your various options are. We do accept items such as records, books, movies, and musical gear in as trade towards repair costs. Call or email for more info. If you’ve been putting off getting some much needed work done because you think it will break your bank, stop in to talk with us. We’re always willing to work with you to get you up and running within a reasonable budget.
